Ambassador Role

Ambassadors are private practice doctors and influencers who bridge the information gap between VSP Vision and peer doctors, students, and industry leaders. They do this by building relationships and earning trust on behalf of VSP through peer-to-peer interactions. 

VSP Vision Ambassador Job Description

Essential Functions  

  • Engage with the optical industry and peers to provide insights and correct misinformation.  
  • Proactively communicate with peers about VSP Vision products and services, helping doctors understand the benefits and resources available through VSP Premier Edge.  
  • Elevate the perception of VSP Vision’s reputation among others in the industry.  
  • Address topics that may be viewed as controversial and connect back to the enterprise as needed.   
  • Provide intel to/from VSP Vision and state optometric association. 
  • Offer input and doctor’s perspective on VSP Vision programs and concepts.  
  • Bring awareness and perspective on up-and-coming clinical trends.  
  • By request:  
    • Represent VSP Vision at regional and national meetings.   
    • Participate in VSP Vision Care client meetings (i.e., partnership review meetings, finalist meetings with current and potential clients, wellness presentations for existing clients). 
    • Participate in focus groups and various enterprise intel requests.  
    • Network with or mentor optometric students. 
    • Support local natural disaster efforts or charity care events.  
    • Partake in various surveys providing feedback on program meetings, quarterly calls, trainings, etc. 
    • Participate on an advisory panel specific to a business need. 
    • Participate in blogs, testimonials, or other media opportunities. 

Requirements 

  • Participate in 80% (5/6) of the following Ambassador Program events listed below: 
    • Annual Ambassador Meeting 
    • 3 quarterly calls 
    • 2 deep dive trainings 
  • Participate in at least 3 Ambassador activation opportunities.  
    • An activation is an opportunity requested through the Ambassador Program that supports VSP’s business initiatives, educates network providers, and/or generates competitive intel or doctor insights.  
  • Sign Conflict of Interest Policy Acknowledgement annually
  • Sign Non-Disclosure Agreement (once selected as an Ambassador). 

Qualifications 

  • Five or more years post-graduation.  
  • Private-practice owner, or if an associate, practicing at a private-practice location.  
  • A VSP network doctor in good standing with VSP Vision Care  
  • Well-connected within the profession: 
    • Relationships with schools of optometry, state optometric associations, the community, government officials, and/or other influential doctors.   
  • Consumer of information (i.e. industry-related, VSP-provided intel)  
  • Comfortable with challenging conversations.  
  • Accessible to VSP Vision and others in the industry.  
  • Participating in VSP Premier Edge (the practice must be minimum Premier Gold, preferably Platinum.) 
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment. 
  • Currently residing in the state you are representing.
